OUR PROCESS
Detail-oriented from the first enquiry to the final report.
BEFORE YOU ENQUIRE
A few things to know first.
Enquiries are online
We do not offer a telephone enquiry line because our clinical time is focused on people currently receiving services. After reviewing your enquiry, we will contact you if we need any further information.
Timing and availability
Where relevant, we will advise you of any applicable waitlist or estimated waiting time when we respond to your enquiry.
Not an urgent service
Belco Psych Assessments is not an urgent or emergency service. If you need immediate assistance, please contact an appropriate emergency or crisis support service such as Lifeline, dial 000, or speak with your GP.
01 — GETTING STARTED
Establishing what you need.
1. Enquiry or referral
Tell us who the assessment is for, what you are seeking and any important background information including if you need Language Support or have an Accessibility request.
2. Screening forms
These forms explain our terms of service, and the assessment process, while collecting the information we need to decide if this is the right service for you.
3. Screening reviewed
A psychologist reviews the information you provide during screening to understand your needs and to decide whether our service is an appropriate fit.
02 — PREPARATION
Planning the assessment with you.
4. Acceptance
If we can offer the assessment, we confirm this and explain the next steps. Depending on capacity, we may offer an appointment or place you on a waitlist.
5. Pre-intake forms
You provide more detailed developmental, medical, educational and personal background information as relevant. If forms are hard for you, see Accessibility.
6. Intake appointment
We discuss your history, current concerns and goals, then carefully plan the assessment together with you. This 50-minute appointment costs $318. Afterwards, you decide if you want to proceed – it’s OK if you don’t.
03 — ASSESSMENT
From assessment to useful answers.
7. Psychometric assessment
The relevant standardised assessment sessions, assessment forms, and any additional interviews are completed. The psychologist may recommend changing the plan or discontinuing during this phase based on initial results.
8. Analysis and integration
We carefully bring together the assessment results, background information and clinical observations.
9. Feedback, recommendations and report
We explain the findings, discuss practical recommendations and provide your written report.
