Belconnen Psychological Assessments Pty Ltd | Fee schedule last updated 7 August 2026
01 — Our Fees
Our fees reflect the expertise, training, assessment materials and professional time required to provide comprehensive psychological assessment services.
Belco Psych Assessments (BPA) currently charges $318 per hour for psychological assessment services.
During the initial appointment we will work with you to develop an assessment plan and fee estimate (see below) to address your question and goals. At the end of the initial intake appointment, you will usually be provided with an estimate of the likely assessment cost and can then decide whether you wish to proceed.
Below are example fee structures for some common assessment types. These are guides only and may vary depending on individual circumstances.
Fee Example: Child ADHD & learning assessment
The example below shows how fees may be structured for a comprehensive child or adolescent ADHD and learning assessment.
| Assessment stage | Example psychologist time | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Screening Process | Varies | Usually included+ |
| Pre-Intake Forms | Varies | $0 |
| Initial assessment interview* | 60 minutes | $318 |
| Cognitive assessment appointment | 100 minutes | $530 |
| Academic assessment appointment | 100 minutes | $530 |
| Teacher Interview | 20-30 minutes | $175 |

| Report preparation | 300 minutes | $1,590 |
| Feedback appointment | 60 minutes | $318 |
| Example total | ~10.8 hours billed | $3,461 |
This is an example only, not a fixed package. The assessment required and its total cost will depend on the referral question, information already available, the measures selected, the client’s ability to complete assessment activities within the estimated time, and what is clinically appropriate for the individual client.
*During the initial assessment interview, we work with you to clarify your goals and develop a proposed assessment plan. At the end of the appointment, we will provide an estimate of the likely scope and cost. You can then decide whether to proceed, change the proposed plan or stop the assessment process.
+As outlined in our Children, Young People & Families Policy, additional fees may apply where screening requires substantially more time than usual because of complex consent or family arrangements. Your psychologist will contact you before additional fees are incurred if this is relevant to your situation.
Fee Example: Straightforward Cognitive Assessment

02 — Tailored Assessment Services
Assessment fees are tailored to what is needed
We do not provide fixed assessment packages.
Psychological assessment is an individual clinical process. The type and amount of assessment required can vary considerably from one person to another.
Rather than placing every client into a predetermined package, we determine the most appropriate assessment based on the referral question, information gathered during the screening and intake process, and each client’s individual circumstances and goals.
See our FAQs page to learn more about our individualised approach to assessment.
03 — Fee ESTIMATES
We discuss likely fees before you proceed.
Our screening process is generally provided at no charge. If you progress beyond screening, the next step is usually an initial assessment interview, charged at $318.00. During assessments, we charge as we go rather than giving you one large invoice to pay in advance. You can stop at any time.
During that appointment, we clarify the referral question, review the information available and discuss the likely assessment approach and fee structure.
Because BPA does not use fixed assessment packages, the total cost can vary from person to person. We will explain the expected fees before further assessment work proceeds and discuss any significant changes if the scope needs to change.
More about our rates
BPA is an assessment-focused clinic. Our fees reflect the clinical expertise, professional time, assessment materials and resources required to provide careful, individualised psychological assessment.
Our fees are based on Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended fees. They cover the work involved across the assessment process, including appointments, administration and scoring, interpretation, report preparation and feedback. Assessment also involves costs that are not always visible during appointments, including professional assessment materials, test administration and scoring systems, and the time required to carefully review and integrate information from multiple sources.
A full fee schedule is provided during the intake process, so anticipated costs can be discussed at the initial intake appointment before proceeding. For information about payment, billing and cancellations, please see our Billing & Cancellations Policy.
04 — Medicare
Medicare rebates are available in some circumstances
In some circumstances, psychological assessment undertaken following an eligible referral from a GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist may attract Medicare rebates under the Complex Neurodevelopmental Conditions and eligible disabilities program.
Eligibility and the amount that may be claimable depend on the referral and services provided, and not every component of an assessment is eligible for rebates.
Where relevant, we will explain the applicable Medicare arrangements and expected fees during the screening process so that these can be understood before proceeding.
05 — Private Health
Private health insurance rebates are available in some circumstances
Some clients may be eligible to claim a rebate for psychological assessment services through their private health insurance, depending on their level of extras cover, insurer and the particular service provided.
Private health insurance policies vary considerably, so BPA cannot confirm your individual eligibility or the amount of any rebate. We recommend contacting your insurer directly before your appointment to check whether psychological assessment services are covered under your policy and what rebate may apply.
Where applicable, BPA can provide the information required to support a private health insurance claim.
06 — Fee Example
Cancellation fees
We understand that plans can change.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us as much notice as possible. Where we are able to offer the appointment to another client or otherwise use the reserved clinical time, a cancellation fee will generally not apply. Where an appointment cannot be filled and sufficient notice has not been provided, a cancellation fee may apply.
| Notice Provided | Cancellation Fee |
| 7 calendar days | No fee |
| Between 2 business days & 7 calendar days | Up to 25% of booked fee |
| Between 1 and 2 business days | Up to 50% of booked fee |
| Less than 1 business day | Up to 100% of booked fee |
| Non-attendance without notice | Up to 100% of booked fee |
These fees are consistent with Australian Psychological Society guidance. Cancellation fees are applied at BPA’s discretion and may be reduced or waived where exceptional circumstances exist.
